Specimens

Specimens need to have been requested or approved by your GP before leaving them in the appropriate "Drop off Box" which is placed outside the doors of the Treatment Room on Level 2, Lisburn Primary & Community Care Centre.  There is a supply of containers available at this location as well.

All specimens must be provided in a suitable container and marked clearly with the name of your GP, your name, date of birth, date provided and reason for specimen.  Failure to do so may mean that the test will need to be repeated.  Please note that when bringing in a sample, only samples in the correct container can be accepted.

Getting your test results

You will be asked for some personal details when calling, this is to confirm your identity.  The receptionist has the right to refuse the release of medical information if he/she feels that it does not pertain to the person calling.  We hope that our patients find our high standards of confidentiality satisfactory with regard to relaeasing this type of information.

Patients 16 years and over are responsible for contacting the Practice for their results.  The patient can nominate a next of kin to be added to their medical record to discuss aspects of their health.  Please contact the Reception team for further information regarding this.

Please allow two days after your test(s) to allow results to be viewed by a GP.  Results can be obtained by phoning into our reception after 10am and before 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.  Please be aware that some tests can take a week or longer to return.

If there is an urgent issue or action required, you will be contacted by the Practice by phone or text.

If you have additional queries about your results, please make a normal routine telephone consultation appointment with one of the GP's.

Tests carried out at Hospitals/Private Clinics

Following advice from the British Medical Association we would like to advise the Patients of Laganview Medical Practice that our GPs do NOT access ECR or Encompass for any third party results.  It is the responsibility of the Clinician requesting the test to follow up with any results or forward these results via the correct channel.  We receive and process electronic and paper post every day in practice.  These documents are the COMPLETED report sent to us from hospital department, private clinics and all areas of healthcare settings.  Please DO NOT ask our staff to request that a GP "look up" results of tests they have not requested.  This is not safe practice.  Any queries relating to this should be directed back to the Clinician or body that ordered the test.

X-Ray and Scan Results

When you attend for an X-Ray or scan of any kind that was requested by your GP, you should expect to wait up to 2 weeks or sometimes longer for the results to be available. Please contact the Practice directly for your result.

Requests for Letters/Reports

Demand for letters, reports and other non-contractual work has increased recently.  Due to the extra pressure this puts on the administration and clinical staff the practice will be more consistent with applying a charge for this service.  Letters will start at £15 but the charge will depend on work and time involved.  This will not affect Subject Access Requests which are free under GDPR, *a charge for these SAR's will be applied if duplicate or excessive requests*.
